Hi from New York
« on: March 18, 2007, 03:15:33 PM »
Hi everyone. I have been lurking for  while, and finally took the time to register. Sorry about the          un original screen name. I began using it a long time ago on other forums.
I am a Honda Pro certified technician and a BMW (motorcycle) certified master tech. I owned a Honda dealership from 1983 to 1998.
My K0 sand cast is apart for its second restoration. I restored it once about 15 years ago at 25,000 miles.
It now has 90,000 miles and is very tired.
My diecast K0 has 13,000 miles. My cafe racer has 30,000 miles. It has Habermann tank, seat and clip on handlebars from Germany. I will post pictures soon. Now everything is tucked away in the garage.
Almost forgot to mention my 1971 SL 100 and 1963 SS50 (non USA model) . Nice to be here. Thanks

Welcome, Ken.  I'm in upstate -- outside of Binghamton.  I think your bike experience outweighs your screen name, which wouldn't matter anyway. ;-)

I used to travel up to Binghamton all of the time. Very pretty up that way.

Greetings from Colorado. Great to have you on board. You credentials are impressive. Always good to have another pro around to help out. Are you planning on retiring the sand cast after this restore? Looking forward to the pictures.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

The worst part of that ride for me would be going over the Newburg/Beacon bridge. The Lower and Mid Hudson Valley has some nice roads also.

Hi Rxman,
I restored the sandcast the first time with the intention of riding it. It turned out so nice, I only showed it for about 3 years.  Then one day I realised, its not a motorcycle unless you ride it. This time I intend to do a true museum quality restoration. I will probably park it in the entrance hallway of the house, and ride it occasionally.  This bike is currently apart, and the others are stuffed in the garage. I will post pictures soon.

Shoot down to the Bear Mountain Bridge. It's a much nicer ride accross the Hudson.

Yeah I go past the Bear Mountain every weekend. My favorite ride is down Rt 9 to 301 into Cold Spring and back on 9N up through the Goat Trail .

I haven't done much on that side of the Bridge yet. What's the "Goat Trail"?

The Goat Trail is the road that leads to the Bear Mountain Bridge from the Annsville circle. It goes past Camp Smith. It of course has another name but the old timers call it the Goat Trail since it hugs the edge of the Mountain. Very twisty piece of road.

Thanks,

I know the road well. Did not know it was called the Goat trail. Made many a trip (On 4 wheels) when I worked in Somers.

We'll have to plan a trip over the summer.
