PD46C Carbs 78 CB550 - Needle Guide
« on: May 25, 2024, 06:56:08 AM »
Hi,
I am trying to replace needle set on carbs........My question is how can I remove the pressed-in needle guide/collar which lives under the emulsifier? (See pics)

Do you push out from emulsifier end or slide end?

On other Honda carbs like these, I just get a small screwdriver and tap down on it with the handle end. they might need a little push with something soft like a piece of wood dowel to finally get out.

Like Brianc says: they come out by going downward after the emulsifier tube has been removed below.
I use a wood dowel or the special screwdriver (thinned-down tip) I made. Go gently, they are soft.

Thanks so much all.
Please excuse my ignorance, for my clarity, do i push from the throttle slide side back down the emulsifier tube?  Or push via the emulsifier end so that it comes out into throttle slide?
Cheers
Brian

From the top down ( slide end) into where the emulsion tube was removed. I use a HB1 pencil with the lead removed and the cone shape of the pencil fits perfectly and is soft so no damage to the part.
