i've never known what the rear and front brake torque links are, i've seen it named brake stopper arm, i've always only known it to be that brake rod wrapped around the axle preventer. but why i'm asking is you know those angled cuts at the both ends (on some, some only have 1 side with an angle cut and the other is just radius cut.) it probably isn't all that critical, one would think, if at all, that one could think.

after removing the rear wheel to deflate and soap up the bead to eliminate a big divot in the tire then putting it back noticing my alertness of preventative maintenance having kept the original rear brake torque link/brake hub safety nut locker. so i went for a short spin and the rear brake had a lot of free play, so stopped and the adjust nut was nearly 1/2 turn away from falling off. so i adjust it and peddle feels about right i barely get going 5mph if that and i barely put pressure on the peddle and you know, i hear snap. right away i knew there's gonna be some damage. not much the rod that was wrapped around the brake hub, was nothing, the brake cam's end was still in the lever after i got home so i used that to drive back out of the lever to hope to restraighten some of twisted splines inside of it. the hub looks ok. apparently things could've been way worse at a high speed, hard braking, from not putting the cotter pin in the front of that toque link. back to the angle cuts, do they make any difference? i don't want to over look something. thanks.
