Main stand chain interference
« on: June 02, 2024, 05:44:46 AM »
Hi folks

I recently cleaned up and painted my rusty old main stand and installed it. It was off the bike when I got it.

However, now I’ve installed my chain it’s making contact with the chain. I know it’s the correct stand and the correct chain/ sprockets etc. It seems like there should be a guard/ stop preventing its travel but I can’t see anything on the parts fiches. How do I install it so it doesn’t spring up and hit the chain? Without the chain it rests on the underside of the swingarm which is also clearly incorrect

Do you have your exhaust pipe on (assume it is 4into1) ?

The backside of exhaust may have a bumper to stop the stand?

I saw recently here that oem exhaust is the stop for the center stand, some headers come with a stop ?? My bike had an action fours header when my dad died and I replaced it with a Mac but I have not paid attention to that area of the bike in recent history, chain does not rub tho. my bike is a CB750K2

Stock exhaust would have a stop for the center stand. Most aftermarket exhaust do not and would require some sort of supplemental bracket to hold the center stand off the chain. I use an “L” bracket off the inside of the left side passenger peg mount.

Thanks for the advice as usual. Not a stock pipe. Seems like a little bracket stop is the way to go!
