The forklegs are now disassembled, and the first pic shows the guts of the lowered setup.

Proceeded by removing all the race scrutineering decals as well as the black factory paint on the lower legs. Will probably sand them smooth and polish them to match the rest of the chassis, but I haven't quite decided yet.

The fourth pic shows the stock setup that is going back in, and that will make the fork 75 mm (3") taller compared to the lowered setup :)

  I'm curious, what is your frame of reference to the drag race changes? Is there a blueprint, photos, or information from the previous owner?  They did go to great lengths to make small changes that would be difficult to notice unless you knew the original very well.
 
  A local to me flat track guy had a well-known vintage flat track bike to repair, (Champion maybe?) reportedly, before it left his shop there were two chassis jigs made off of it.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Continuous contacts by phone and by meetings in person with the builder/owner/racer, and by extensive research of photos and information online.
The fact that the bike was built by him in back in 1982, and he is the one and only owner since, is an invaluable source of knowledge.
Then again, the 43 years that has passed makes things slightly blurred even for him...
But all in all, this far every questionmark I´ve stumbled upon I´ve been able to straighten out  :)

Had an half an hour to spare last night.
Started sanding and this is as far as 30 minutes got me   :)

The stock 18" five-spoked Martin wheels were sold by the original owner many years ago and was replaced with a 17" GSXR rear wheel to allow wider rubber, and a 16" GSX1100EF  front wheel to lower the front a bit more..

Decided to replace the 16" front with at 17' GSXR wheel to match the rear, and had to modify the speedo drive to center the wider wheel in the forks.

Worked out well, and the next step is to machine some adapter plates for the Brembo calipers due to the 10 millimeter bigger discs of the GSXR wheel.
