If you are familiar with how car engine/trans mate together and the associated shaft seals, that is basically how this is built, right down to the car style, dry clutch. So basically, to fix these seals, either the engine or transmission has to come out of the bike and I would assume it would be the transmission that has to come out. I know there are at least a couple BMW special tools that are required and with shop rates currently over $100 an hour, $2000 for this job is reasonable.
