Hang in there don’t get overheated. Hope your humidity is bearable..

Wife was down near Austin a while back right after tornado. No electricity for 3 days with day time temps >96*..

Hope you can get a Samsung for the bed room soon..

That sucks. It is in the low 90's here. At least 2 more days until it drops to the 80's.
A hour ago we watched a helicopter with a dip bucket go over for at least a dozen round trips. Likely a wildfire southeast of us. It took 2 minutes for him to go over full and come back empty. It hasn't been back for a half hour so they must have put it out.

We had about 8-9 straight days of triple digit temps here last week but a rare July "cold front" came through on Saturday along with some rain. Only going up to 90 today.

And on other news, many of us are disappointed that hurricane Beryl did not track into central Texas, veered eastward towards Houston instead, flooding that area.  Cen Tex needs rain, many areas are in a drought, Lake Travis [a reservoir] is 30 feet below average!  Beryl could have filled it up...

I feel you you all in the heat wave! In WI we've been having record rainfall. Lots of flooding and downpours. A gentle rain is one thing, but 4 inches in a short time is to much for the drainage to handle. Temps here have been good. Nothing the AC can't handle.

In Western Illinois we've been getting lots of rain, thunderstorms and heat, humidity is high and the "feels like" temps are well over a hundred some days. My kid's ponds are filled to the overflow pipes. I'm seeing two bands of red on the radar now one for 9pm and another right after it. High winds are predicted.
I now know what the members from Australia mean when they say it's too hot to ride and they take the car.

Here in Colorado they have been just lying about how high the temperatures are. Friday reached [a real] 102, which often happens here in July/August, then it dropped back into the 90s, barely made it to 92 today. Yet, the evening TV news is screaming about how we "broke 100 degrees 4 days in a row!". No, we did not.

It's been 100 or higher here for the last 12 days straight, with 2 days 102, 1 day 103, 4 days 104, 3 days 105, and one day 107. After a thunderstorm last evening that dumped over 1/2" of rain, it cooled off today to 97, but with more humidity.
This part of AZ used to get this type of hot weather for a handful of days per year, but the last couple of years have set new records. The whole West has been burning up, both literally and figuratively. My new neighbor told me it was 111 in Roseburg, OR when he left, so it was actually cooler here in AZ, and my brother-in-law said it had been 118 in Bakersfield,Ca.
There was a group of motorcyclists riding through Death Valley in 128 degree heat; one died from heat exposure and others were treated. (Maybe a candidate for a Darwin award??)

We had a cold front going through tonight, it dropped 20 degrees and brought some impressive wind and rain. The thunder rolled for an hour straight. The TV weatherman said they recorded over 4,000 lightning strikes. I got a couple tree branches in the yard, that's about it. My son-in law is a lineman, he was home on rest this morning and will probably work through until a planned trip wed. morning. The AC has actually been cycling on and off even n this heat. I guess we sized it right, it is nice to not hear it running though. 71F right now.

When I lived in Vegas from 96-2006 I had 121° in the backyard shaded thermometer hanging on a tree. It all goes in cycles, weather is fluid and changing constantly in cycles. The west is arid desert, getting rain cycles cools the temps for a time while there is still moisture in the ground until it evaporates.
Our bodies need proper fluid intake to survive the heat, that doesn't include coffee, tea, sodas or alcohol. Unfortunately too many travelers don't understand the proper pre hydration needs before traveling as well as they need to.

Oh and we are supposed to be at 98 today here in southern NH. Been over 90 the past 2 weeks with a few days in the 88/89 mixed in....
Tomorrow's bike night will be warmer than last week so lots of water needed in it doesn't get rained out as they are forecasting thunderstorms...

Are you all getting those man-made clouds, too?
They don't look like our normal puffy, billowing clouds here. They look like something smeared across the sky, with chunks of them broken off here and there, at low altitude below the normal clouds. They fragment easily and dissipate to make a grey-colored sky, blocking the sunlight that normally creates light ground breezes around here. The air is dead still here in the Front Range, which is man-made and not normal at all. It is ALWAYS breezy (or windy) on the Front Range, since the Rockies were formed: that's been one of their hallmarks.

Is that what that is?  I thought it was more Mexican agricultural fire smoke blowing in.  It was super hazy on Sunday.  Temps haven't been too bad here.  We've only gotten close to 100 twice, I think.  I've been doing some 300 mile plus rides on the weekends and it hasn't been miserable.

That temperature was at the airport where the official temps are recorded.
As I said it was in my back yard which was lower elevation than at the airport.

Yes it is. I drove the van through Manchester this afternoon @2:20, it was showing 99 on my thermometer.
It felt like a blast furnace as the winds picked up before the storms rolled through. With the rain the temps dropped. It's 72° at 10pm.

We have had dust storms and over night the winds die off and you are left with a haze the next day causing poor air quality and visibility as well as health issues for many.
Sunday evening a severe storm rolled across Tucson with 3 separate tornado warnings issued by National Weather Service because Doppler radar showed rotation in the winds surrounding those alert areas.
I stopped at Chick-fil-A for late lunch after having physical therapy appt this afternoon and they had 10 (ten) less Palo Verde trees that a landscape company was wrapping up removal and clean up. About 1/4 mile or less away a very tall power pole was being worked on being replaced by the power company. Mesquite trees being stronger if they yielded to the winds which were 60-80mph in places were more often blown over uprooting them, while the softer Palo Verde trees were broken up.
The landscape and tree people are printing money for all the work they have had from the storms and winds. Roof damages from hail and wind have been high as well. Insurance company of course try to reduce their claims for any signs of prior damage or deterioration of shingles or roof to lower their out of pocket and push it on the homeowners. I know State Farm is notorious for this and does this ploy in any claim to lower their pay outs. Having tasted that on an auto accident I was not at fault for years ago I dropped them as my carrier and won't consider them for anything. They tried to do betterment on accident damage claim for a chrome bumper of a car I owned because it had one previous dent that was there when I bought the car. They argued to fix the bumper would improve the car and it had preexisting damage. Let's ignore the other driver bending the bumper and hitting me hard enough to bend the unibody of the car cause the quarter panel to buckle inward behind the driver's door.

My insurance agent recommended that my insurance repair the car and then surrogate a claim against the other driver's insurance to avoid this bull#$%*. That's what I did.

AutoZone lost an entire back wall and part of the roof of their building several miles south of the CFA and power pole issue on Ina road.
