It's been 100 or higher here for the last 12 days straight, with 2 days 102, 1 day 103, 4 days 104, 3 days 105, and one day 107. After a thunderstorm last evening that dumped over 1/2" of rain, it cooled off today to 97, but with more humidity.
This part of AZ used to get this type of hot weather for a handful of days per year, but the last couple of years have set new records. The whole West has been burning up, both literally and figuratively. My new neighbor told me it was 111 in Roseburg, OR when he left, so it was actually cooler here in AZ, and my brother-in-law said it had been 118 in Bakersfield,Ca.
There was a group of motorcyclists riding through Death Valley in 128 degree heat; one died from heat exposure and others were treated. (Maybe a candidate for a Darwin award??)
