ok, how do you post pictures to your posts
« on: July 24, 2024, 05:08:56 PM »
I keep trying to post in the project section and when I use the attachments and other options to add the pictures, the post dissapears and will not post.
I tried a test post with no pictures added and no problem

How big are the pics? How are you connecting to the 'net? With my DSL, it sometimes takes several seconds to upload a pic, and the bigger the pic, or more pics, the longer the delay.

Are you posting from a smart phone that you have taken the pictures on?
The size count of your pictures mater. This forum requires a small pixels(??) count to post them. I haven't learned how to resize my pictures but I have learned to take a screenshot of the pictures I want to post. The screenshot somehow brings the size down to acceptable to the forum requirements.
I'm not a techie mind so I  don't know how to do it differently.

Pics as large as 4 megs are allowed, but generally that high of resolution is overkill. For instance, this pic is only 583KB:

On android I resize mine to 60%  go to edit picture then the 3 dots in the upper right opens a drop down menu, then click resize, select 60% and save. Then you can add it to your post via attachments. I find that it is best to only do 3 or 4 at a time, after that you can click "modify" on your post and add more. Hope that helps.

If you look at the 24 rides in 2024  a.k.a Franks challenge,  you can see that post wat too many pics, but I love it!

Jim, your pics on the "24" ride thread are always nicely sized, not too big, and not too small. ;D

I have used the phone app Tapatalk for some years now.
Really easy to just add photos without resizing.
I can edit photos to remove not interesting parts.

I paid for the app when they still had lifetime option.

Read the forum posts in my phone is easier via Tapatalk then using an Internet browser.

This photo is not edited.  6.4 MB when I check the properties.

Per, if I click on your photo to enlarge it, it is so big that all I can see is the taillight and a portion of the rear tire. :(

Scott,  same with me on Per's picture. But if I enlarge with 2 fingers it is fine. All I can see is a sweet looking 750!

Stu, I use Gallery on my phone. It looks like you may be storing or editing in a different app/program.  I don't have that icon to purchase as a choice when I'm in edit.

Pics as large as 4 megs are allowed, but generally that high of resolution is overkill. For instance, this pic is only 583KB:

I have been working with the photos in the 24 in 24 thread and have found 1mb +/- is a good size.
Much larger and the pictures won’t load.
Much smaller and they get fuzzy when enlarged.

My own iPad lost its picture size selector in a software update a while back.
Nowadays I’m emailing 4mb photos to myself that I want to post here.
Mostly they’re resized too small for my liking.
PeWe’s photos are very crisp!
Per, I went for the tapatalk recently but didn’t get it done.

Kevin, you'll like Tapatalk when you had done the setup, added this forum and maybe the UK forum too.
Plus removing the silly auto text  in the end of each post , Tapatalk + phone model.

Very easy to use.
But I cannot vote, the function is not visible.

Using Internet browser has also more for text formats such as color, bold texts etc that Tapatalk does not have.

I need to look for photo resizing. I have not used it. Not seen it either.
My phone has Android 14.

I think photos is cloud storage, all my pics are on my phone and I use gallery. If you have the potion to open with gallery then my method should work. IDK.

Looks like one of the pics was over 4 megs, and it was the first one I was trying to add, so let me see if I can fix that and go from there.
Thanks guys.

My phone Oneplus 12 with Android 14 did not have any resizing functionality in its otherwise functional editor Gallery where photos can be edited and saved in named directories.

Downloaded Puma Photo resizer compressor.
Look good so far.

Use the resizing only since compression will make details disappear. Cylinder flanges can look strange too.

Paid for 1 year to avoid all disturbing commercial. $5-6US nit much for a year.

I hope no spy functionality. I have switched off 5G for that reason, not only ev battery drainage.
