Topic: I want a comfortable,quiet padded 3/4 open face white helmet L.

I've used an open face helmet and enjoy wearing and riding that style.
I also have a full face but it isn't my first choice.

I want a new 3/4 white helmet and would like to get one that's comfortable(Size L: 7 3/8-7 1/2") and somewhat quiet;I wear glasses which a 3/4 is helpful with,just what I prefer for now.

 I have had this horrible fitting 3/4 L. GMax for 2.5 yrs of suffering now,it has a type of styrofoam inner around my forehead which 'cups'/pinches my forehead and cuts-off circulation as I'm riding into a headwind;a cheap piece of garbage that I want to throw in the dumpster as soon as I get a new helmet that actually fits.
I was speaking with a guy I know who told me his Biltwell Bonanza is comfortable around the forehead. 
I'm not trying to start 'a helmet thread'    because we all have different size heads.
Just looking for a nice fitting size Large 3/4 white helmet which actually fits;this GMax is really a piece of junk which I think China shipped here so we could fill up our Landfills with them.

My head's outside , not inside decide which helmet

Different brands for different heads, egg shaped or box.
Arai is not a choice for box headed.
Shoei, old Bieffe and Schubert have contenders.

Some shops have sales now and then.
I ordered a new Schubert C3 Pro (bronze) from France March 2020 on sale. My intention to be used with the brown K2.

I've got a LS2 OF569 Track Helmet that I wear on most of my rides.  It's light and comfortable.  Less than $100 new.  It is several years old and may have been replaced by a newer model by now...

I’m a full face helmet guy after bees and bird strikes and not being able to see or hear…😩

I use and like the Shoei GT Air2… Quiet, comfortable, and you can see and hear…
I like the Shoei RF 1400 too, perhaps quieter but lacks the internal sun visor included in the
GT Air..  which is very important after year two of multi-focal implants after too many years of outside sunlight…😁
Still 7 year old noon time bright so you have to wear sunglasses, so the internal sun shield negates the sunglasses

Buying helmets is the worst, no matter what style.  Ordering one is a crap shoot.  I've found that I really have to go try them on.  Even if I find one that fits and that's comfortable, I still don't know how it will react at speed...wind noise, buffeting, etc.

My Schubert C3 Pro is a flip up helmet.
Best helmet ever. So convenient to take on and off.
I wear glasses during helmet on-off.
Plus inbuilt sun visir. Always clear visor, if going to be blinded by the sun, I'll shut down the internal sun visor.

My helmet and visor is usually full of bugs after a ride. Some smacks into the helmet rather hard.  I do not want them into my face in higher speed nor any speed at all.

I bought a tough tinted blue/red visor with the helmet for looks. It matched my blue white helmet really well.
I stopped using it after a few rides due to bad sight on darker parts of roads thru forests, tunnels or in the evening.

A flip up helmet of a well fitting brand, clear visor and inbuilt sun visor is my recommendation.
During refueling, flip up for fresh air.

Not cheap. It cost +50% more than my special graphics blue white C3 Pro did late 2014, more than double than my bronze C3 Pro did 2020.
I can resist!!! Bad currency development against Euro increase by 20-25%



They have a carbon fibre model too. I prefer colors.

I see that some sellers still offer the C3 Pro no longer produced for a lower price. Still a very good helmet.

(C4 was for sport bikes riders, C4 a mistake, C4 Pro better)

Try in a shop, look for sale when you know which helmets the skull accept.
Then up to the wallet.
Protection for the not wanted event.

My 2nd C3 Pro had slightly tighter fit than my first.
I had to massage the inside insulation with a small metal hammer.

My first ordered from Denmark was a perfect fit direct. My local shop here did not want to take home the type of graphic I wanted.

Tested in the shop, knew that size 60-61 should fit.

I have a Shoei RF1200 Large and the fit is just right,but with my glasses & visor,I prefer the 3/4 helmet.
I use a ZR1 bubble shield and a 3-snap visor and it works very good for me.
The GMax inner styrofoam shape of the forehead is painful,but the size is ok.
I'm able to spend from $100-200 on a decent Large helmet(White)which is good quality and the padding should give me some noise protection;also DOT is sufficient and a Snell rating isn't what I can afford right now.

I see the logic in that.
I realize some shops would not like having someone try on a few helmets,then go purchase online.
There's a Cycle Gear nationwide store about 28 miles from me which I may go into and ask if they have a sale.

I did that and realized I needed a larger helmet than I thought.
My really old "large" helmet became an XXL in today's sizes.

It is quiet and sipes away sweat, comfortable to wear all day long, and accepts the arms of glasses nicely with 2-piece cushions right at the temples to let them slip thru without pressing them against your head.

Just go to Cycle Gear and try a bunch of different brands. Asking what is the most comfortable helmet is a little like asking what is the best shoe size. There has to be a cycle gear close to Davis, if not I'm sure Sac has one.

I only wear an open face helmet very occasionally. My HJC flip front helmet is my go to helmet. I have an older HJC open face (black) with a snap on peak and an excellent set of ski goggles. Every once in a while I do pull it on and it is extremely comfortable.

The "flip front" modular? seems like a very good choice;I may have one of them in my future riding journeys. I have not tried one on yet,but plan to.

I love my modular, it isn't the quietest though. It's the Cycle Gear/ Revzilla brand.

Haven't found any other helmet at Cycle Gear shop that fits well trying many different sizes and brands and designs. The salesman tells me the cheaper helmets that I can fit into are going to be very noisy in comparison and won't last anywhere near the rule of thumb of 5 years.  Check the helmet you do buy for the manufacturing date, supposedly that date is the clock for 5 year life you are suppose to pay attention to... The foam degrades with time, even when not being used. My Signet X was fitted with a liner replacement in-between sizing between XL and 2XL. Aria has replacement liners in 5mm steps and of course I had best fit between sizes...

Good luck finding a good helmet Bill, lots are made for certain head shapes and sounds like your head shape isn't common, as mine is what RevZilla calls a long oval.
