CB550F fenders -- one strut or two?
« on: August 01, 2024, 08:53:59 AM »
REplacing some stuff on my 550F and I ordered a two-strut fender from Vietnam on Ebay. I bought it because I wanted a two strut fender, don't care if it's correct. But there are also quite a few images out there with Fs (1975 and 1976) that have two-strut fenders. So... did the 550F ever come stock with a two-strut fender? Maybe in different markets? Did it transition out of them to the one-strut fender at some point (during the 1976 run?) as there are also 1976 Fs with one-strut fenders (and 1975s too)?

Who knows?

there's no official pictures, magazine articles, parts books, that show an alternate two strut fender part # for '75, '76 550F USA models. The new '76 F I purchased in '76 and the current original, mint '75 F all have the one strut. The center code is "390" , which is first year '75 F.

CMS shows a two strut fender alongside the single strut for some if not all of non-U.S. F bikes.

The parts lists - as usual - have the precise answer.

and the F-6 page in: https://www.honda4fun.com/dwnload/Part-List/CB550/CB550-F2-Parts-List.pdf
Observe the socalled 'area code'.

Two strut fender on 550F1s in UK. Think maybe then went to one strut for F2.

UK rules: After August 1975 front number plate were not required (but still allowed). Bikes registered after 2001 are not allowed to have front number plates.
