Hey all, I was advised by sohc which I found from a user in a Honda CB subreddit. Working my way thru the internet trying to find help and good advice. I recently (kinda) bought my first bike. She’s a 73 Honda CB350f. I searched for her specifically, so I (mostly) knew what I was getting into. I’ve worked on cars for some odd 20 yrs so I have a good mechanical knowledge background - just not with bikes. I’m aware I’ll need to learn a lot and I’m more than willing to do the work. I’ve had a lot of trouble since I brought her home, so I have a lot of questions . She ran great, looked good, but needed new tires (her shoes were 40 yrs old! How?!?) and front brake lines/caliper/pad. Everything went smoothly until I got her in for her appt for her tires. I got her back and her rear brake rod was bent in 2 different places, the brake arm wasn’t even fully attached, the spacers were on the wrong side, axle was in backward 😭. Got all that fixed and a refund, the owner took care of it personally, did real well by me. Thing is, since then I’m leaking gas with the petcock closed, pours out when it’s half open - but has a brand new carb kit 🤷🏼♀️. Also, forgive me bc I’m still learning terms. The valves under the fuel bowl have cut off hoses, so the fuel drips on my engine - no idea what I’m supposed to do there. Ik they clearly need runoff hoses put on, but where do I connect the other ends? Did an inspection of the wiring due a whole other clusterF and found corrosion around the connector where the master harness meets the regulator. So I’m putting in a new master harness right now and I got a new reg/rec but I have a few questions abt that too 😬
Anyway, I love her and I know these problems came up aren’t her fault. But I’m dying to get her on the road!! She ran so smooth and beautiful when I took her around the block on those 40 yo tires 😅
