Petcock Spigot o-rings

I’m now in Omaha, NE on my X-N America ride and niggling issues continue to arise. Only to be expected, I suppose, when putting a normal monthly, or annual for some, :) mileage on the bike every few days.

Anyway, this time it’s petcock. Frequently when I remove the fuel tubes, the spigot comes off too. I’ve tried various things to fix it in permanently, to no avail. This time when I took it out the little o-ring disintegrated; maybe explaining the slight leak I used to get.

I don’t know if this is meant ot be fixed, or if it is just a push fit. Maybe replacing the o-ring might be enough.

So does anyone have the dimensions for this thing? And perhaps a suggestion where I can definitely get one in Omaha?

What bike is it, dont remember any O rings on there
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

Sean….. get some “gas tank repair putty”. I think JB weld makes one, but any auto shop will have something. Coat it up (only OD of the tube) and shove it back.

I've not seen or heard of an oring in the nozzle, into the petcock body I assume?
Must be sn aftermarket petcock.....
So... you will have to take the pieces to a parts store that has metric orings to try to fit.

I'm getting an email of the dealers that list they have a NOS petcock in stock. Unfortunately the list doesn't show one in Omaha.
Maybe you should call the Honda shop there, part number is 19250-300-020. They are available still.
I'll let you know when I get the email of any semi close.

The originals defo dont have O rings and are thin enough you can tap a centre punch into the top to open it out a bit the tep into the body carefully

Got a small o-ring and put it on.

“Tapped” it in with a hammer

Got some JB Tank Weld and wrapped it around the base of both spigots.

Have left it overnight and will see in the morning.

I have also ordered a new Petcock from K&L - https://dealer.klsupply.com//images/fuel-petcocks_App.pdf

The wobble got worse and I checked the bearings again, moving the bars this time rather than just tapping with a screwdriver. The cap was not even hand tight! Tightened it up with a c-spanner and so far - nearly 1 000 miles – all is well.

I also had my rear tyre placed, again. Only cost $187 this time!! That did include removing the wheel though  ;D And no, not including the tyre; that was another $187.

The bearing races may not have been fully seated, and the "tight as you can get it by hand" preload loosened up after use. You might want to keep an eye on it and adjust if needed.

Scottly, I’ll be watching it like a hawk! :)

John, Metzeler ME77. The shop in Omaha, Robertsons Cycles, which I can recommend, had one in stock, and as the front is still fine, I decided to go with that one.

The only other option they offered was Dunlop D404, others seemed to be hard for them to find.
