I know we aren't all into cars, or Mecum, but nevertheless this sale of Steve McQueen's Porsche 917 is quite some event. With non-McQueen 917s selling for 8 digit sums it'll be interesting to see what this goes for. Much more than I can afford anyway...

Of course, that would mean my Civic would have to find a new home. I'll have to think long and hard before bidding, I really love my old Civic

 I still remember the ad for Gulfpride formula G racing oil. It was a Gulf Oil sponsored Trans Am Camaro on a road course complete with the engine sound. I've searched YouTube on occasion in case it re-appears.

The Gulf blue and orange livery is still right at the top of the best looking ever in my view. The John Player Special black with gold trim is right there too.

 I'm not the only gear head looking for that video, other kids my age were affected by it also. I googled it and found a lot of other guys also remembering and looking for it. It may have been for Gulf No Nox gasoline rather than the oil. 
 The Porsche is cool but I was a McClaren guy.
