Help on what this is?
« on: August 27, 2024, 03:53:52 PM »
Hello, first time posting and hoping to get a little help. I bought a project bike off of someone who had life get in the way and needed to part with it. I did let the seller know once finished I will bring it by for them to take it for a ride. It is a Frankenstein cafe build that I look forward to stripping to the frame and going through the motor and carbs. My question is does anybody know what forks these are and which brake caliper. I will need to rebuild these and these are these are not original and I need to buy the seals (kit). Thanks for any feedback bad or good! I hope the pictures make it on here.

1974 CB400F. Wheels and forks are not original. I think the wheels are from a 80’s CX500 but not 100%.

That style fork, and the Comstar wheels started with the '77/'78 750 F models, as well as some other models. The brake caliper came on the same models, but there is a better option using the two piston calipers that started in 1982.

Got it, thanks. I will look into fork and brake rebuild kits for that bike. It looks like the had dual discs up front and the calipers were mounted on the rear of the fork. When I took ownership of this it was mounted on the front like the CB400 F. Thanks again.

Those fork legs do look like the 77/78 750F Supersport legs.

This 1st picture is your picture,  2nd and 3rd are 77 750F forks.

I appreciate it and thanks for the confirmation on the forks. The brake look like it is the same as well.  I will get some rebuild kits ordered. Thanks again.
