Does anyone have any experience with Futaba points and condensers? Someone is selling a NOS set for a CB750K and I was curious how they compare to Toyo and other OEM brands.

It is in an aged but clean Futaba box. It's still sealed in some kind of tough plastic bag with a little packet of cam lube. It looks brand new, but from the looks of the box it's NOS.

Futaba has a good reputation in electronics. I used their excellent R/C gear in my model airplanes

Wow, that's a find!
A suggestion: the condensors from that era could dry out (if unsealed, which those aren't) in their cardboard boxes, and we 'refreshed' them by putting them onto a 10 amp battery charger for a few hours. The condensors were made with a waxy insulator that could dry out: when it did the capacitance dropped to about 0.18uF instead of 0.24uF, so the points tended to spark more than normal for the first few heat-cycles by the engine (which restores them by design).

After having read the above, if the price is right, buy the set, examine it, try it out and report.

I have NOS similar set for my CB450K0 .. I will dig out and report back what the quality is like. Of course on the 450K0 the condenser was separate to the points plate (dual condenser in one can)

How did you order them? I just tried 2 weeks ago (August) to order some points plates, they said Honda made them NLA (again).

TBH I didn't place the order, but I was able to add them to my cart and get as far as the "submit order" button. I guess it's possible they'd cancel the order afterwards.

A lot of times they haven't updated their parts database to indicate NLA.
It will let you order a part then when they check and find out the part is NLA they will email you and let you know.

Honda has been making the points plates available on-and-off since 2006. I've noticed it is the first thing that 'reappears' after they get letters from folks like us. This is at least the 10th time they stopped making them.
