The plug caps finally arrived. Full marks to the guys at Vintage CB750 for going eh extra mile to get them to me ASAP. Unfortunately they wee not as advertised on the website; they are not NGK, but unbranded replacements made in Taiwan, so the final score drops to middling.
I contacted them about this and got an unapologetic response saying I should be grateful that they made the effort to get them to me quickly. They will, they say, update the website.
Before fitting the caps, I cut a bit off the end of the leads to ensure a good connection. Unfortunately one end flew off and into the plug hole. It was sitting just at the top of the threads lying at a slant. I put some superglue on a retrieval magnet and tried to get it out.
The first time I only succeeded in pushing it further in;
luckily I had put the piston at TDC so It was just sitting there. A second attempt with the glue was successful
Everything is now back together and working, so tomorrow I will be back on the road.
What a week! I haven’t mentioned the diesel; you’ll have to read the blog for that story!
