Fat spokes
« on: February 26, 2010, 06:33:20 PM »
I saw this clean HD the other day, no junk, minimal chrome, just low, wide, and clean. But it had these thick black spokes lacing up some 16 inch wheels. I didn't have my caliper with me, but my highly calibrated eye figures they were thicker than 1/4" but probably less than 5/16".

I want some. Who makes them? Can they be had for a stock CB750 wheel? Or am I going to have to figure out how to run HD wheels... That'd piss off the old man...

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

  I forget who makes em

 They work like this;
Hub is tapped where the spokes enter it,

Spoke has a fastener on the head, which is inside the rim.

 cool ..eh..

ah... I see. I think I might have to pick up a couple spare wheels and hubs. Wonder what angle the hubs would have to be tapped at?

At spoke angle, but that depends on cross pattern..

This angle for the threads would have to be very accurate.

If you want to run your discs, probably have to make hubs..$
