CMS Exhaust - Who Makes it?
« on: September 26, 2024, 05:19:44 AM »
Has anyone purchased this exhaust system from CMS?  They refused to tell me who makes it for them (which is concerning).  Who's purchased a set and what do you think of them?  Thanks,

If you want quality and from Japan, get your pipes from Yamiya in Japan.

They did not.  Surely somebody from the forum has purchased a set from CMS, so I want to know what they have to say.  I'm not making a show bike so not so sure that I need to spend $2k on an exhaust system. Besides, I don't think Yamiya has them in stock.

Better flow in Yamiya no numbers than HM341 replicas with a dented area on one pipe.
Sound another detail.

I have a set of them that I bought during covid, at the time nothing else was available. They are the 341 type, they fit well on a late number K0 and look good but they sound awful. I had heard they have a baffle rattle and one of mine does also. If I leave the exhaust tips off the sound is acceptable, when on it sounds like one cylinder has a miss.
I did coat them inside with the Eastwood brand of in the pipe exhaust coating hoping it would glue things together. No luck.
I'll try to remember to snap a pic of the stamping, it might give a clue. I couldn't get any information on the origin of them either. The boxes look like Busso's although that doesn't really mean anything.
I recently got two sets of Busso no no.'s after a year wait but they were about the same price as one set from CMSNL.
Yamiya still has the best product, I have two sets now, David Silver sold me 2 of the 3 Yamiya pipes I've owned, and bought back one set on a bike I restored. They charged me shipping from Pennsylvania and that was cheap.

I believe DSS and CMS buy from same source
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

I thought it was the far east.
Delkevic don't make a 4/4 set for the 750 but do for the 500. I wonder where they come from?

Delkevic is a UK company, but apparently has their exhausts made in China?

David Silver sell the yamiya no number exhaust, I bought a set not so long ago and I received them in the Yamiya marked box.

The first set i had on my K0 was the 341 replica from CMS and like you they always had a rattle inside the lower right exhaust, in fact I changed for that with the no number from DSS, and received them in the yamiya box

My DSS are also Yamiya, I got one set with two matched pipes (same cylinder) and the replacement came direct from Japan. I'd bet any 341's DSS sells are the same as CMS.

Yes I believe that is so, though they don't admit to it.  As an extra clue, all their stuff says they are made in their own factory etc etc, if they were made in the UK they would be bragging that they are all made in their UK factory
