Hardest parts to find are muffler and tank mate, there are a lot of uk members to possibly help but postage would be horrible
It's like the Honda engineers were alloted this much steel to make 4 mufflers and god damn right they are gonna use that much for 1!

Fairly certain that Honda didnt make those mufflers but did engineer them.  The similar muffler on the 550F was made by Sankei

Oh yeah, that is right!  I would be curious to know how that worked out.  So many important Honda components were made by other companies...gauges and electrical components, carbs, wheels, lights, etc.  Who did the engineering though?  Honda just handing satellite companies a design and saying, "here, build this for us!"?
If it works good, it looks good...

The keys came today and I got the seat unlocked and the ignition switch works with the key. Acorns and nesting materials under the seat in the tool tray. The tank was hard to open the cap, rusted to the tank and poorly lined with kreem(it wasn't derusted properly before whoever poured liner in it...)

I'd bet thats how it went down, Sean.  I always thought the exhaust system was the worst part on these bikes, but Mr Honda never imagined we'd still be riding them 50 years on!

The original exhaust system was built to meet the C.A.R.B. mandates. (California Air Resources Board)

I picked up a 78F tank a week ago up in central Vermont. Had a great ride there and back albeit a bit chilly but not bad on my goldwing.
The tank has sun blistered paint which I might try 2000 grit wet sanding and shoot it with clear, or repaint to the orange( or to a silver CBX paint and stripes).
The inside had surface rust but a week of Evaporust cleaned it out like new(I guess I didn't get a picture of it after cleaning so will have to tomorrow)

The F1 is my second favorite CB750. I only let mine get away to raise some $$ for a Sandcast. I did get another one running and sold it last year, I also sold a KZ1000, it felt so bad I got a gs1100e to ease my pain.

Yes Don, and the 76 K float valves also have the little screens.

That tank looks like you might be able to salvage the stock paint. Good score.

That's good stuff, not particularly cheap, but it does a great job.

Very cool...I am working on a very early f0 (number 425!) that started out in a similar situation.  Mine came with a super gunk filled 77k tank and it's all been painted a hideous gloppy plain red.  I snagged a very nice F2 tank off ebay for $450 and it turned out it was from Ken from CycleX!  These tanks are so hard to find.  Rear brake parts are a challenge too.
Seems like I read about yours Sean
hmmm, yes, we did discuss the F carbs and what makes them special (or not)  I got around to cleaning them and they do have a different needle number than the usual 27201 that I have seen in every other set of round tops!  The bike has fired up and ran amazing.  Throttle response is super crisp and smooth even with the most amazingly rotten original muffler I have ever seen!...which of course spewed a huge mouse nest out the back, sides, even a little bit forward lol

In those F/F1 carbs I have seen needles with #271301, #271302 and #271307 on them. Sometimes I've wondered if the #271307 set were worn #271302? The numbers are supposed to describe the beginning position of the taper from the middle clip notch, and the um per mm taper on the way down the needle, but I've never been able to 'decode' it.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.
