1983 CB1100F project.

Of course not a SOHC but a great project for the winter. A "garage" find advertised on Facebook Marketplace.
It needs a lot of love but should be a nice bike when it's done.

New CB750 K6 Anteres Red, to replace the totaled K5, I sold this K6 at 45k in 1983, I had heavily modified it, many great memories on it and have missed it greatly.....

Congrats.  I dont like a lot of 80's era bikes, but that is a great one!   Not the stock front fairing, right?

I'm sure that bike wasn't going to last long advertised for sale;good on you for finding,then going right out to collect it.  :)

Congrats.  I dont like a lot of 80's era bikes, but that is a great one!   Not the stock front fairing, right?

The stock fairing is smaller with the gauges built into it. Here's our bike that we haven't started going through yet.

Got it running today.Thankfully the seller drained the carbs before storing it in his garage. Clutch is noisy but going through the carbs and balancing them should help. Compression got to 180 on each cylinder on a warm motor. Tons of small stuff to do. Got the calipers off so I can at least roll it around. The fairing got removed right away.

   Finding affordable fairings and or other panels is going to be a study in patience. For whatever reason, people believe that even the damaged stuff should be expensive, I don't get it.  Anyways, give it time and keep an eye out, even some of the damaged pieces can be repaired cost effectively, painting and graphics are an entirely different thing.

Mine is a Canadian model,different than the US one. No fairing, the headlight is round and the wheel are gold coloured. From Wikipedia:
The CB1100F was available in different markets, such as US, Canada, Europe, and Australia from 1982 through 1984. In the USA, a quarter-fairing for wind deflection (and looks), and cast single piece wheels were offered. The other markets had not the fairing, and the wheels were gold "boomerang" Comstars, similar to the ones on the Honda CB1100R, and the control cables were routed above, rather than below, the handlebars. The riding position was more sporty than the US model, with rearset footpegs and controls as well as lower two-piece clip-on handlebars. These different parts were originally offered through US dealers as a complete sport, or "continental" kit, and now command a price premium in the US as owners seek to upgrade their machine

I have a stock smoked windshield for the CX500 international deluxe models that was from late 70s and it sat outside too much, the shield looks good except when you backlight it and or try to look through it, then there are hundreds of cracks in the interior surface.  Since I would never be tucked down on top of the tank I would never be viewing things ahead through the screen.
The cracks don't bug me enough and it is more cosmetic and provides the wind deflection I wanted from it. It is in a box because I have the bike torn down and motor put doing a slow restore refresh on the bike or I would share a photo...

Cliff,does the Maier fairing company in Grass Valley,Ca. offer a repro to the original ?
I called but they weren't able to answer the phone,so I left a message.

Turns out the CX650E and CX500E which the USA models did not get also shared the same fairing as the CB1100F and Gustafsson Plastics makes a replacement windscreen panel for them...

Honda I don't think offers replacement windscreens for that fairing...
If you wanted to add it. Frank runs that fairing one one or two of his drag bikes, certainly one of them ...

As far as I know the shocks are stock.
Replacing fork seals and bushings at the moment. Valve cover, stator cover and ignition covers at the polisher.
Engine paint where it was needed done. I've tried as much as possible to keep the stock finish but the front of the engine needed love badly.
New seat cover soon.
Progress is slow but steady.

Cliff….. looking good. A bike I’ve never ridden, but always admired! Looks great without the fairing too. I’ll bet it will be fun. Like my Varadero, it will probably spoil you and the older bikes will get a break…

It looks really good with the round headlight without fairing.
