Hello From Sunny Motherwell :-)
« on: September 20, 2024, 10:58:39 AM »
After 28 years riding a Honda 400 Four for a number of years and getting rid of my Ducati Monster two years ago

Today, I did a very silly thing and purchased  a 400 Four that needs a lot of work and a big resto

Some immediate issues that need fixed

Question One

Does the seat lock have the identical key as the ignition barrel, as it appears that the PO - 1 lost the keys and destroyed both locks

Question Two

It needs an engine out and frame powder coated - recommendations for that please

Question Three

The wheels need re-chroming as does the chain guard and probably the mudguards as well - recommendations for that please

Question Four

I am not as yet looking to do any go-fast modification but would like to do some handling modifications, doubly so since my last bike was a wonderful handling Ducati  recommendations for that please

Question Five

The Tacho is very very lazy how do I fix that

he he a good starter for ten, well actually only five

Many thanks in anticipation

Kindest regards

David
Many Thanks

David

Welcome aboard the forum David from across the pond in New Hampshire.

1. Yes both locks used the same key from the factory.

2&3. Are you looking for recommendations on getting the powder coating and chrome done?
I don't know of resources for it in the UK.

5. The works inside the Tachometer probably need opening up and cleaning or replacement? I think the UK members will be along to direct you to getting the work done.

Welcome from Texas.

Re-chroming has become very expensive, good used parts will be more affordable unless you have money to burn.  Or, pattern parts from DSS may be a good route to go, he should have everything you need...
