Quick CB350 Twin question..
« on: March 20, 2007, 04:28:44 PM »
What disc front ends fit directly on? And do I need to use the CB350 steering head bearings? Or bearings from whatever model it comes off of? Thanks!

It is possible to mount many different front ends, it just depends on the level of difficulty you handle and the size of your wallet. If you want a simple upgrade with disk try to get a cb350G('73) ,cb360, CB350f, or CB400f front end. I would suggest keeping all those bearings, but you could always upgrade to roller bearings like in the All Balls kit.

I think the head itself is the same dimensions for a lot of years of cb's up to the 750's.  If you take a complete front end you've got a lot of choices.  I put a cb500 fork on mine - I ended up getting tapered bearings

350 disc front end goes straight in. CB360 one will also be direct replacement. I think CB400f does same.
You can just change fork legs and wheel, slot into std yokes

Well, I have a Suzuki Katana front end sitting in the garage, that I was intending to use. But the fitment of a rear alloy wheel might be a little to expensive than I originally expected. So my plan was to use a spoked front end that would compliment a drum in the rear. I don't completely frown upon a full alloy setup, but the price for the rear brake hydraulics and such deter me from doing such a setup, and wheel spacers(the list goes on). It would however allow me to run some snazzy tires.

But, my plans for this thing have changed a bit, and I intend to just romp it around the streets instead of the track, so I figure a single or dual disc older front end would work fine. What about the GL1000? I know they go directly on the CB750, but what of the 350?

And I do also intend to get tapered bearings, sorry I didn't make that clear. Just wasn't sure if I should shop for 350 bearings or whatever bike the front end will end up coming from.
