Piston ring orientation
« on: October 13, 2024, 12:54:04 PM »
Does anyone have a description and picture of the piston ring orientation for a '75 cb750f?  I can find specs for the end gap but not the gap orientation on the piston.

Dynoman's Tech Pages have good explanation.

Bore does not matter here, ring gap.

The bore/piston clearance for forged pistons. Not stock cast that need less than half.

Just about every manufacturer recommends the same…
Not sure whether Mahle indicates top ring end gap goes to the major thrust side..
Helps to close it off and reduce blow by..more power…Scotty I have to have “more power”..😁
Same with the oil control ring end gaps go opposite the crankshafts sling oil. For better oil control..😁

Edit: removing all doubt. 🤔  if you’ve ever torn down one of your own builds, let us know where your end gaps ended up at…🤫
