Newbie from the UK
« on: October 11, 2024, 09:20:55 pm »
Hey all. New to the forums and it's been a while since I've had a Honda.

I have a small but growing collections of bikes, My main ride, a Triumph Steamer 96 (Got to love the triple. I think the bike stays stationary and just rotates the planet underneath it. So much torque). A Kawasaki 650 Versys, backup ride (It's to quick and I'm too old, but fun). And projects, XT350, XJ900, TM250, and the latest to join the fold is a 1981 Honda CB650 Chop project that is a "proper chopper". I've been hunting for years, and this little bike had the right look. The right price and was just down the road. It had to be.

It's a project and will need some love. Its a bit ratty looking currently but I'd like to give it a lift. I have a growing list of issues, and ideas but thought I'd wander over and pick you brains before I made any big choices and spent loads of cash on replacement parts.  I've just been reading though a couple of the project threads and I think I'm in the right place. You guys know your stuff.

Anyway, thanks very much for the add. I understand I can't post any pic's yet. Probably a good thing considering how the CB currently looks, but it has the form. There is Beauty under there somewhere........Hopefully the time will come when It looks pretty enough to grace these pages.

Thanks again.
Rob.

Yeah, but it was so cheap I couldn't pass it up. It's only one more bike.

Thanks guys

Currently sat looking out at a cold damp day by the Essex coast, but it's the UK so as expected. The fire is lit and plans are being made for an early 80's SOHC/4 to hit the road again.
Got a few service parts are on order, so just need to sit here, read up on the forums and the service manuals and be patient. Can't wait to get this beast back on the road.
Gonna be getting some wrenching done early next week all things being equal.
This is gonna be a fun ride :)

Welcome aboard. UK here too. The CB650 is pretty rare around here, and even rarer in chopped form
