Not really sure what I'm looking at - the other 750 is at home and I will keep forgetting at night.

Here's photo of the 2&3 plugs and what is in between. Can anyone recognize as to which head I have?

Damn, you may want to sell that engine on ebay.

Well now I know what I'm looking at since I got home and see the bolt on the 1976 cb750F1 - so because this one is without one it seems it's a matching head.  I'll search for datestamps on everything next, and if the head has a serial number or now.

The exhaust and carbs are from a 1978 - seems that the block and head are early sandcast.

For now at least - the lady was talking about wanting to find an original frame and restoring.  So I imagine I'll probably do a good winterization to preserve it then over the winter looking at getting another engine for this bike or getting another bike.

Happy New Year!

I'm getting ready to change piston rings on my cb750 and was checking out this forum (very useful for a newbie like me).
That said I noticed people talking about a sandcast engine. I wondered if mine was one such engine.
I have a 1975 cb750F0 - Frame Number- cb750F 1005444 Engine Number - CB750E 2500763.
Is there a list that identifies the Sandcasted engines according to frame and engine number? Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers everyone.

I bought a K6 750 with engine #1002695 in it. It did have the K6 cylinder and head though. I bolted on the proper top end and sold it to a guy that came to my shop while his buyer was talking to him on a cell phone and while on a boat in Lake Michigan cooking chicken.
They are not priceless though, every one of them so far has had a price, even when it's a 6 figure prototype.
There is another missing bolt to check for, that's the one in front of the valve cover and in the center of the engine. If it's not there you also have the early head. (pre- 23000) or so.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.
