Off topic Harley problem

So I have an OCD friend that has a 2016 Harley Triglide with a 105 engine. He changed the oil the other day and it only took 2 and 1/2 litres with the filter change. Dipstick says full. Has him all uptight because it’s supposed to take 3 and 1/2. He drained it out and measured it and it was 21/2.
I know absolutely nothing about Harleys but I suggested he cut off some of the dipstick if it would make him feel better!
Any ideas?

Is possible that 3.5 liter number is for a dry engine and it's 2.5 for an oil change?

Well at that point I'd consult the owner manual or the shop manual. :)

Is that the spec for his specific modle/year/motor? Plus if it was drained on the side stand, it mat not have dumped the old stuff...............that's all I got.

I was wrong about the engine, it’s a 103 not 105 if that makes a difference.. and yes it’s a trike.

I myself don’t see a problem as long as it shows ok on the dipstick but he obsesses over things like this. Should have bought a Honda!

Theres still a market for HD center stands.  They're just very short and motorized.  Lowrider stuff

2 1/2 quart is not right.

My first question is this a factory trike or converted? If converted it may have been read on the jiffy stand as a two wheeler and that would explain the difference in readings.

We went through this when we converted my Dad's softail into a trike.

What ever capacity it calls for in the manual, especially if it was converted ( go with original bike specs before conversion),  go with manual quantity.

The only other thing I can think of if his engine is wet jumping. In that case there is another drain plug in the crank case near the oil drain plug. Pull that and see how much he is getting. It should not be very much at all. If it is alot he has bigger problems.
