What impresses me, how long they are building mostly the same bike.  They must be doing something right. 

Also I can let my adult kids try it in our backyard since it's light enough and fall proof.

Agreed, the KLH650 is well regarded and pretty durable and rich and deep aftermarket available for them.  They aren't a fortune to repair if you need to make any repairs or catch up on maintenance.

They took it off the market recently and reintroduced it with a few changes, motor became compliant with Euro motor requirements and some chassis changes. New model is improved, but that is irrelevant for your situation. It is a big thumper that is very durable, tank like.
I'm sure you will be happy with it once you are accustomed to its few quirks, like any bike. Looks like you found a good example that likely needs little. Part of their endearing qualities I am told.

That something the PO couldn't tell me.  He got it from a mechanic and kept it in his shop, riding it only few hundreds mile a year. 

I am getting Clymer manual to read up on it and see what I need to do.  Seems like Thermo-Bob kit is a good idea, too.

I read up on the thermo-Bob and it does seem like a good idea. Never did mine and after 14 years have never seen any issues….

I read up on the thermo-Bob and it does seem like a good idea. Never did mine and after 14 years have never seen any issues….

I remember ofreen having one for a while. 

Yes. It runs, no issues.  I took it around the block with a spare license plate  . The idle was bit high but that was easy to adjust. 

The PO put on it only 1800 miles since 2021, she will be happy in my place.

I did some reading and plan to change the doohickey before too long.  I will not try to adjust it before the change, seems like it's safer not to mess with it - if it is indeed broken or original.

Yes.  The only thing missing is an inspection, but that doesn't stop me from riding.  Love how nimble it is, great scoot for around the neighborhood.

This model carries enough fuel to deliver fuel to other bikes ,cavernous fuel tank;I hope it has no rust.
I see what looks like an aftermarket front fender;will this fender allow as much engine cooling as original ?

Good buy!! If its anything like the XR650 I had you will love it! I traded in the XR650 for a Tenere T700 and now can easily go on the highway as well as the trails.
