CB500 Shift Drum Pin?
« on: November 15, 2024, 09:39:36 AM »
I'm diving into my 500/4 engine and trying to get the shift drum out. It'll only slide out so far, and then it gets blocked by the first shift dog. I pulled the pins out of the other two, but this one doesn't seem to want to come out; is there a trick to it? It also looks like it's in there deeper than the other two, and a magnet won't pull it out.

Yes, I've tried the magnet thing, with several different sizes. I'll try the upside-down method next, see what happens.

(Later...)

Yup, that did it; surprisingly fast, too! Turned it over, tapped it a few times and it fell right out. Got the cases emptied out, vapor blasted and ready to go back in!
