1907(?) Pierce Bicycle
« on: November 06, 2024, 01:16:35 PM »
Came across this today. Wooden grips and big wide spacing on the gear teeth. Chain or leather belt? The wheel rims are very thin sheet metal, wrapped around a wooden rib. Extremely light weight. Tires are hollow, continuous tubes, wrapped around the rim! Never seen anything like it. Very complete, down to the saddle by “Persons”. All made in the USA!

Anyone know anything more?

I don't know a lot about old bicycles but that one looks pretty intact for its apparent age and it probably worth a few bucks to someone.
Looks like it's been repainted.
Apparently the company formed in 1906.

I sent off a note to Mike Wolf at “American Pickers”. Strangely enough, their production company is actually in Toronto, Ontario, Canada! They have an email for stuff they might be interested in….. He’s a very serious bicycle collector. Will be interesting to see if I get a response?

He is the bike guy but he's probably already got ten of them! But he may be able to give some idea of the value.

Hey John....looks like a 1905 model when compared to a pic on this forum...

Coincidentally, that museum in MI is one that some of our forum members [Sean & Eric] go to for vintage bike week in June...
