oil leak in wrog place

Does the 550 have one peiece crank seals the reason i ask is because the alternator is coated in motor oil , or is there some kind of plug or cap on that side of the crankcase that would allow oil to seep into that space????

I don't think oil is suppose to be in there, looking at the diagram below, #23 is a seal...

There is a crank seal that needs cases split to change or an oil gallery plug held in by the cover where an O ring can leak, part 23 in picture. N.B. note the direction the plug sits ( pip out)

If yours is leaking at the little oil journal port (the O-ring BryanJ mentions) I have those.
Otherwise, you'll have to replace that one behind the alternator's rotor - for which you'll split the cases AND need the rotor puller. I've found it far easier to remove the rotor first, then split the cases to change the seal.
