once again I've proven to myself that when frustrated its best to walk away, eat dinner, and chill out, and presto chango, crankcases fall into place!!

hehe no to sure on the terminology but those half cirlcle thingy's that fit into the upper crankcase and position the bearings inplace.

well if anyone else browses this whats should you torqe the little bolts up too? I saw the torque specs for the crank bearing bolts but there an 8mm bolt versus the 6mm

The 8mm crank studs do the grunt work of holding the bearings together. The 6mm cover screws just hold the case together and hopefully tight against oil leaks. They get the same torque as any other 6mm bolt, not much. I don't have the manual here but it would be the same as the rocker cover bolts. Don't overdo it as they strip out easily.
