Any other cigar smokers?
« on: November 13, 2024, 03:03:22 PM »
I picked up a lot of habits from my time in the military. Cigars is the last one to kick. I am down to two a day, most days. I will take it as a win.

We have a very limited selection here in Newfoundland. Most of the cigar shops have closed.

My current budget friendly sticks are WD. My Brother who is stationed away usually brings a few home Christmas time. Last time he hooked me up with a few Gurka's, they were quite good.

I smoked pipe for a very long time as well. Getting the pipe tobacco was very difficult. I had quite a collection of pipes over the years including four of my grandfather's pipes. I have since given all of them away but one. Pipes can be a very expensive hobby, not that cigars are much if any cheaper

I have smoked a Cigar on occasion but I find smoking tobacco to just be nasty, don't like the odor or taste.

Fair enough.  It depends on the cigar too. Some have a strong tobacco taste and smell. Others have hints of earthy flavor or chocolate or pepper and so on.

I had a Rocky Patel sampler given to me and each one had a great flavor profile as well  as smell. Century Sam however is very much a tobacco flavor and odor.

That being said if you are not a tobacco fan you probably won't like any of it too much. Again, fair.

smoking, especially cigars,is a hideous and disgusting habit that should be outlawed, its practised by self absorbed heathens of a narcissistic nature.

I had to take a moment to pray on this before I responded.

While there is some truth to your statement, I agree it is a bad habit, I take the accusation of it being a narcissistic tendency very seriously.

I have gone through extensive therapy for my various mental health issues and I can assure you being a narcissistic individual is not something I am.

As for being a heathen I would also state that to be false. We all fall short of the glory of God.

While you may have perfectly legitimate reasons for such a standpoint I will say the delivery was harsh and unnecessary.

I take responsibility in this. As I should have not posted  this thread. It was not edifying.

I ask that the mods delete or lock this thread as I can see it was not what is needed.

Either way I hope that you and all the members are blessed. Let's go back to focusing on more important things like these beautiful cb's.

Stay blessed all

I wouldn't worry about it.  I took Dave's post as being facetious, and Duster's response fit in with it.  I get the appeal of cigars, some of them taste and smell good as they combust.  As long as the smoke isn't being inflicted on other people not willing to suck it in, no harm no foul.  I might be tempted to indulge if it wasn't for the whole mouth cancer thing. ;)

I have a real hard time interpreting humor, especially in text form without a hahaha or lol.

Either way if the thread needs to go I am fine with that. It was an attempt to be social in posting this.

Don't sweat it dime. Dave can be pretty good at sarcasm, after all he is Aussie, Duster picked up on it right away too. Ofreen called it.

Fair enough guys. Last thing I want to do is come in your house and post something that causes grief.

I love this place. I know I haven't been here long but it feels like home. I appreciate you all.

Ya'll are a great bunch. Doing my best to find my place here. Cheers.

At least Dave isn't responding with an occasional saying I've heard from Aussie lips...
"Take a spoonful of cement and harden the f__k up!"

Sensitive or folks not understanding ribbing shouldn't hang with Aussies or visit Australia. Gabriel Iglesias has some funny jokes & stories about visiting Australia.

Whilst I’m not particularly religious, I do enjoy a smoke, and even have a medical marijuana card. I’ve smoked on and off for 50+ years with no health issues apart from lots of broken bones from my 47 years in the Army. I can stop “cold turkey” and have a 5 year break (last time was 8 years) but I do enjoy this repulsive habit, so I’ll keep going for a while longer. I must buy some cigars, I haven’t had one in years. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks Mark, a few here would disagree, but I’ve really enjoyed the camaraderie with the OG’s like you here over the years. This is still my favourite forum. ;D

Thanks mate, I’ve just put in a request for an age extension as I’m due to be compulsory retired in March.  If it goes through I’ll be able to stay in until 2028. I’m retiring from my day job (as a consultant with Army) at the end of next year and have been offered a contract with the Army program (Radars for anti aircraft systems) which will take me up to 2028. ;D
