Total SOHC cb750 Production?
« on: November 13, 2024, 03:57:30 PM »
I read somewhere that the total Honda SOHC cb750 production from 1969-1978 was just over 400,000. Does that seem correct? Any more interesting stats?

Honda has never released production numbers for any of their bikes that I am aware of.
(Except maybe the 50-110cc Cubs 'cause they made a gazillion.)
That ~400K number I believe is an educated guestimate based on published serial number info in the shop manuals and parts lists.

Per…… Most of the charts I’ve seen give the starting VIN a number for a specific model. Rarely do you see the end number. Interestingly, the two numbers above are vastly different……

The numbers on this chart never made sense to me. According to this, there were around 7400 sandcast and 53,400 K0s (diecast). However, the frame vin numbers start at 000001 and end at the beginning of the K1 run. So that would make 44,805 69/70 models including sandcast.

K2 was sold in Europe until K6 arrived.
Both my K2's are 1975.

What about the UK model K0 and K1 or are they included in the worldwide tally? And I can't see Australia or other world markets mentioned.
I think it's quite nice we don't know the exact numbers, it keeps us guessing and gives us something to talk about 😂😂😂

I seem to recall reading that total global production of the SOHC 750 was in the area of 600,000 units.

This web page states 553,400...

The Swedish and probably Europe K2 had K2 frame number series to 1975.

Engines as the year with serial.
1975, K5 engines with later looking head and cylinder.
Still the earlier oil tank with upper hose to atmosphere. K2 gauges and rhino horn upper joke. Headlight had parking.
RH switch had parking, lo, high.
LH switch have a buzzer of button. And extra switch at the left inside LH switch for headlight on-off.

Swedish K2 and K6 had K1 style blinkers and rear fender with lamp.
Still the single grab bar on left side on K2.
My K6 has the later grab bar around seat, from shock to shock upper fitting.
