Paint or not-cylinders/head?
« on: November 15, 2024, 06:40:35 AM »
I cleaned cylinders in the ultra-sonic & scrubbing & they look good as is, gonna do head next. I did paint the cases with the duplicolor but not sure if I should do the top end? Or if the heat would interfere also…what do you guys think?

Paint!   The only motor I haven't painted is a Kawasaki that was vapor blasted and they came "naked" from the factory.

Yea I think so too. It’s just, I thought I read the original was they weren’t…but with the paint it’ll be uniformly pretty:)

Just to provide an alternative opinion, I never paint the barrels or valve cover. The K2 that I bought new here in Australia in January 1973 definitely was not painted, although it did have some type of lacquer on the barrels and valve cover. My opinion, a polished valve cover looks way better. Your decision😀.

I like the valve cover polished personally. I usually paint the top vent cap. It can’t rally be seen.
