Looking to switch the heads between my 73 750k and my 75 750k. I don't see much difference between the heads. But just looking for some reassurance that I'm not missing something. When I pulled the head off the 75 I was reminded that the cylinders had the 8 extra 'packing' rubbers and pins around the cylinder head studs. My 73's cylinders do not. But I see no difference in the heads. Is there some difference in the head I am missing?
Why am I switching you might ask? The 73 was a project, had Mike Rieck do a bang up job on the head, thought I would use the bike differently but now want to sell the bike and keep that head. The 75 is my first 750, my ride or die, and I want to refurbish it some. Do a better job painting the engine this time, finally paint the frame, replace many things rusted from Bonneville, etc. And I thought the head might be weeping oil though it seems now it was just the cam cover. Anyway, switching the heads. Any reason it won't work?
Thanks, Rich
