Honda SL350K0 Rusty Tank Question
« on: February 14, 2025, 07:49:03 AM »
I'm a fan of phosphoric acid and have used it a number of times. The tank is pretty much rust free now aside from crossover tubes. They are clogged with rust.
I was able to drill out the straight section up to the elbow.
I have tried the following to clear the elbow into the tank:
1- Small wire by hand and drill.
2- Compressed air.
3- The above plus a slight tapping with a plastic mallet.
Still not clear. I've read about cutting it off up to the straight section and drilling from there. Really don't want to do that.
I thought of possibly taking a small drill and drilling from the elbow down into the tank. Once cleared I would fill the hole with lead or solder. Worried about the lead or solder escaping into the tube and creating another problem.
Any ideas on solving this would be appreciated.
Many thanks!!

I used a broken speedometer cable chucked into a drill on my goldwing tank, I was able to roto root it out. Maybe something like a choke cable would work on a smaller tube

I did the same thing to clear out the EVAP line from the charcoal canister in the engine bay to the fuel vapor separator in the trunk of my 72' MGB GT. No more gas smell in the shop. ;D

Thanks! I'll give it a shot.
