Topic: I'm looking for a pair of very good aftermarket shocks for a Suzuki

No worries, well there’s still Progressive and Hagon shocks Bill, and they’re probably cheaper than Ikons. Not sure whether they have adjustable damping though, I bought my Progressive shocks for the Rocket III at the advice of the R3 forum members, and they were a waste of money, probably no different than the OEM Triumph shocks, so swore I’d never buy them again.

Terry,I want to go for the Ikons..
Rodger & his lack of telephone courtesy is a problem;destroys my trust in his customer service.
I think the Ikons are a good product,AFAIK.

Did his family sell the business to them that are down South ?
I thought Frank's was in IL. ?
How has the quality been since the new owners ?

My YSS shocks have worked well, BUT the guy I bought them from said the usual problem is in the assembly process not the actual product. He orders the parts from a European supplier and does the assembly work in his own workshop. Bad for the reputation anyhow.

I purchased these Ohlins dual shocks;Hendersonville,NC.

Aren't those unsuitable though? eye to eye when the SOHC tends to use eye to claw.

Oddjob you're right that they aren't appropriate for any of the SOHC fours.

I've got an 81' Suzuki GS450E which needs a pair of new rear shocks.

Yes it does.
My originals are 12.75"/324mm eye to eye;these Ohlins are 340mm/13 3/8"(the shortest they sell in this style)which is a good 5/8" more height in the rear of the bike.
The bike may be a little more twitchy now,but I plan to stiffen-up the front forks with .85Kg straight rate springs(the GS450's were always suspended way too soft from the factory)plus I'll need to shrink the orifice:braze and redrill the rebound hole in the lower damper rods probably by half it's present size as it's going to rise quite a bit faster w/ the heavier front springs.

They must be some strong dampers,running them on the drag bike.

I haven't got the bike back on the road yet;my right foot is getting stronger and I'm sorting out the fuel tank modification.
I sent the tank out to a fellow who cut and installed a float(port & sender)from another bike;haven't installed it yet as the float rubs just a little,so need to modify the float/sender arm.

The short answer is:not yet,but plan to within a few weeks. 
I sincerely want to start riding ASAP
