CB550K0 Carburetor Slide Guide replacement?
« on: November 25, 2024, 09:59:45 PM »
Hello all,
I have a 1974 CB550K with 022A style carburetors. While doing a rebuild I have found that my carb slides do not move up and down as a straight unit, and have upwards of 20deg of movement in some cases. Attached are photos of the guide tabs which I feel are thoroughly worn somehow, is there any way to replace these or at least remove them so I can machine an additional part? Or are these carb bodies scrapped and I need to locate new ones?

IIRC there is a small nub on the outside of the carb body where these pins are inserted from the outside, maybe try knocking it through? and replacing it with something that fits the slide groove perfectly.

IMHO they were somehow injection molded into the carb body, I discovered on a set for a CB750K3 that you can shine a flashlight through them, they are translucent, and in that case I was able to just drive the plastic in a bit deeper with a close fitting pin and sort of renew it. That particular one had been sheared off flush.

Update: After your help with determining the fitment, I have found that 1-2 small hits with a dowel brings out the bit enough to work! Thank you all.
