How do you feel about poor quality parts
« on: November 25, 2024, 01:10:06 PM »
Hi Everyone
How do you feel when parts are poor quality and the supplier Tell's you that they have sold lots of the product and never had a problem

So here I bought a lot of parts from 4INTO1 for a project CB750F #5 for sale
vent to check on the carburetor insulator mounting kit
oped the box and right away see that this will not be a good experience
the insulators are so poor that they will not line up and the shape is not even close (China product )

this will not fit my quality of workmanship (have a reputation to maintain)

Contacted 4InTo1 and send pictures of the insulators installed on a head and how poor they lined up
The response from 4InTo1
was what I expected that the would tell me

4InTo1 response

#1:We sold lots and never had a issue
#2:You can return the product and get store credit
#3:We do not offer free return on product we sell

So this will cost me $40.00 to return the product and get a credit
I have to chuck this one up to a bad experience

Black box with the logo “Motorcycle Parts”? I have a similiar set from vintagecb750! They were inexpensive and worth even less…..

Yep, similar experience here. There aren't a whole lot of options for the carb to head manifold boots for the 77/78 F2/F3/K7/K8 since they are NLA from Honda. The ones I got were a little better but each one was about 3/32" of an inch longer than the one next to it from left to right so the #4 side of the rack was a little over 1/4" further back than the #1 carb. With brand new (Honda) air cleaner boots I could not get the air cleaner to line up with the bracket on the #4 side using these aftermarket manifold boots no matter how hard I tried. Without any better options for manifold boots I ended up elongating the hole in the air cleaner mounting bracket (on the frame) on the #4 side just to be able to mount the air cleaner. Whoever made the molds for these manifold boots missed the mark.

I wonder if a a compression jig submersed in hot water might coax these marginal boots into the correct length/orientation. Hmmmm.... I've got a spare head and possibly a spare carb rack that may be pressed into experimentation service.

Have not had good experiences buying stuff from 4 into 1...have been posting here plenty about it.  4 into 1 sells lots of crap parts that are still available from Honda or other quality sources of repro parts.  It really sucks when poor quality is the only source and you have to make due.  If you have a choice, don't buy from 4 into 1.  Yeah, it's real cheap but it's not gonna work good, if at all....then you just have to buy the same parts again.

I had a similar issue years ago when rebuilding my Kawasaki H1 500.  Needed carb kits and bought them from a well respected, small vendor in the Mid-Atlantic and you can guess how this is going!
Well, we could never tune the bike properly, ended up buying used Mikuni jets and problem solved.
I sent a nasty email to the owner of the company telling him he should stop selling parts that are known to be bad.
Never heard back but it was a lesson learned that I will never forget.

I tried to leave a poor review on a CB750K side cover that 4into1 described as "excellent quality just like the originals".   Try as I might, it would not allow the negative review to post.  I had not opened it for a few months after receiving so wasn't able to return.

I believe the manifold boots I used were from Vintage CB750 as well. While alignment was adequate and useable, these were the ones that increased slightly in length from left to right leading to minor fitment issue with the air cleaner.

I just ordered a set of carb rubbers for CB750 K0, from Vintage CB750 when they come I'll report. My last order was lost in shipment and when I inquired, they just shot me a refund. I never did get the parts and just went elsewhere. I hope this time goes better.
I got a few extra things in the order, muffler bolts etc.

Hi Everyone
How do you feel when parts are poor quality and the supplier Tell's you that they have sold lots of the product and never had a problem

"We never had a problem", because THEY never installed or used the parts.

The only parts I get from 4into1 are brand-name things, like Vesrah's gasket sets. They sell a spark advancer with mechanical parts that will fit on the SOHC4 bikes, but the spring rates are dead wrong on both of the ones I've bought. I used the parts (baseplate once and cam another time) to repair SOHC4 spark advancers, like those converting from Dyna back to points. That's the only parts I will buy from them anymore: since about 2010 their stuff has been garbage. I've helped several other SOHC4 forum members discover this AFTER they bought the parts ( :( ), wishing I could have met them beforehand.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

The demons are repulsed when a man does good. Use that.
Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.
