Honda liquid gasket VS hondabond
« on: November 29, 2024, 08:45:18 AM »
In Honda manuals I have seen that they indicate Honda Liquid gasket, I do not know that product.

Usually on any brand of motorcycle I use Hondabond high temperature for rocker box and other hot areas and Loctite SI5699 (easy to find in any store in Spain) for case halves and other covers.

what really is the difference? Does this product offer any advantages?
 thank you

IMHO, no need to worry about the heat much, they'll all take it.  Hondabond and Yamabond are more liquid than other RTV's and meant for putting case halve together where you don't want a thick RTV.  I'm not familiar with your Loctite product, but if thin, then it's good.

Read the specs and would think it works just fine. Use sparingly. Also, ask your local Honda dealer for Hondabond. In most countries they can get it for shop use from Honda. My local guy gets me a tube whenever I need it.

My dragster has a Chevy 12 bolt rear end, the aluminum support cover's gasket was always shiny and worn looking due to flex. I started using Hondabond on it with no gasket and it's been fine ever since.
It's got 16.5" wide tires and does 0 to 60 in 60 feet and about a second so it needs all of the help it can get.

Don…. I had to change the top pressure gauge on the hot water tank that heats my underfloor system in the shop, not long ago. No Teflon tape or pipe dope around. Dab of Hondabond seems to work just fine!
