Don…. They’ve even included the four round depressions for the throttle cables. I find these tanks disturbing. I wonder if they are stamped with 1969 build dates! Hopefully they are as crappy as some other stuff from 4-1?

So are the 4-into-1 tanks bad or something?

Mark….probably not. I’m just annoyed to see FAKE “wrinkle tanks” being sold. The picture I posted is a tank released in April of 1969. These were only on the very early bikes.

If I was going to re-pop one, this would be the tank I'd make. 4into1 hasn't been famous for their high quality. I have gotten some good stuff there, DID rims were one, a spoke kit I got during covid didn't impress at first, but the wrong parts turned out to be extra. I actually got real Honda stuff there.
I had some fun with the sandcast only guys when I made a 10 bolt clutch cover into a 9 bolt cover. It looked really good and completed the sandcast motor it was on. A little tig welding, a little hand milling and it was nice.
I got the tank set on the nugget because it's a gold wrinkle tank. The guy that had it didn't want to get into a pis sing match over whether Honda ever made one, he sold it to me because I don't care.

I was curious, because I bought a reproduction tank from there and so far, it's working. My goal was not to restore the bike to its original condition, but to get it road-worthy. Thanks for your replies.

I don't mind that someone is making one, it might make my wrinkle tanks worth a little less as more and more early bikes get restored. The sandcast bikes have come out of barns all over the world in the last few years.
Let us know how your tank holds up, I always run a couple ounces of synthetic 2 stroke oil in my gas just to hopefully protect against rust in the tank and maybe the exhaust. I don't think it hurts the carbs either.

We have a K2 750 running a rusty tank because the paint matches the bike and it's so pretty. It's been de-rusted a couple times, but I consider it a lost cause. We have tanks better on the inside but not on the outside.

out of the early bikes up to 7414 I can't imagine there are that many left sitting around waiting to be re-born.

I know someone who just snagged up 2 at once.  Funny thing to me is how many bikes with way lower production numbers sell for less.  One good example is Yamaha XS1...almost the same number and value at less than half of a sandcast.
If it works good, it looks good...

Those tanks do also fit nearly every 750 made, even F and late K if you're willing to move the seat around.
I remember asking about an early tank on a 77 750K once, it seems like it required moving the seat forward to close up the gap. I want to use the early seat also but I don't mind welding the brackets and hinges if it doesn't leave anything exposed on the rear. It has F parts on it now.
