#14 for 75 miles this morning, 66°F with damp roads.
I decided to get up early and have a look at what my commute will look like next week. It's not technically commuting today because I start on Monday right?

All highway inbound then a mix of highway and back roads on the return trip.

I think it's time to think about adding a windshield to this bike, I have a few to try out this weekend.

Ride #27   105 miles

I got my lunch ride today. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky when I departed at 10am. The bike started easily, idled better, and was smoother running today with new x24es-u spark plugs and a new 5K resistor cap for cylinder #1.
When I got into Hell I noticed the high beam indicator lamp ON while the beam selector was on L. ????
I moved the selector several times off-L-H but the false indicator persisted. ????
At my lunch stop I learned that the new Chinese Sylvania H6024XV wasn’t making any light. And I wanted to be at home troubleshooting with meter in hand before I went any further and had another loss. The K1 is a 1 fuse bike, 15A, I carry spares but I have never used them. So I beat it home directly rather than my usual meandering path. The CB was running smoothly.
At home removed the ChiSyl6024 and measured both filaments open circuit, and when I turned the key on, the false indicator lamp was corrected. I had another old 6024, plugged it in, powered it up, switched OFf L H a few times and all was good. Just before I reassembled it I remembered the recent Koito thread so I bolted to the Toyota parts counter to order my Koito kit: two for $20. I will pick it up tomorrow morning and I expect I will be good to go.

Glad you got back and sorted, I put a Koito in my RE Interceptor last week and it's a huge upgrade even for this 5 year old bike.

Alan, did you put the relays in? Or does your RE have relays?
How many fuses in your modern bike?

I’m not quite sorted yet but I got the Koito kit this morning.
I have a bone to pick with Sylvania over my 2 month H6024XV.

#21, Yesterday afternoon I left at 4pm, 80°F, low of 64°F, 133 miles I rode the wing over to near my mom's into Maine to Fogarty's Restaurant for her actual bday dinner, 100 years young.
Got back home at 9pm and it was still 64° and a beautiful crescent moon out(my brother took the moon shot) as I rode westward home.

#15 for me today.
66 miles mostly local highway trying to sort out a little "high speed" wobble, and figure out which of two windshields I like better.

Yes it has 4 relays under the left side cover, I'm running some Toyota relays I got a great deal on, one relay is an accessory plug in the headlight bucket, so far unused but a great spare relay. I have a picture somewhere with each relay labeled that I'll add if I can find it.

Looks like 9 fuses, located under the seat.

John, hope your racing is going well this weekend.

A question for later on:
can I bring an Apple Pie to the Saturday dinner?
I have an inside track to the church Apple pies,
Next best thing to Moms apple pie!
It will travel frozen, and it will need to be thawed and baked.
Maybe I could do that in your oven?
Or just leave it in the freezer for you and your family at some future gathering.

Sep 27th, #70, 63 miles

Sep 28th, #71, Just about 100 miles, turned the track recorder on well into the ride so it does not show full distance. Made a run to get some fresh apple cider and some apple donuts from a place near where I grew up

Bill how much for cider and donuts in Ohio?
$20 here for a half gallon of cider and a half dozen donuts.
I’m not a regular visitor but it sure was good.
I also saw cider and donuts at Costco on my last visit.

#34  124 km yesterday afternoon  Ca 14-15* C at start. Chilly 10*C 2nd half after a kebab at my favourite kebab supplier.
Engelsberg, photo with lake background. My brown K2.

The blue K6 parked for the season. It has around 4000 km rear tire left for next year. A little over 5000 km this year.

Finally sunset that arrives earlier for each week. Sunset photos at 6:30 pm. Back home just before 7pm.

I'll see if the weather will make another ride for me on the brown K2.

Probably weekend when it can happen  while sun can warm us up.  Yesterday some other things to before the ride to clear the bike's throats.  Only around 960km so far this year.

The seat felt cold  after the restaurant. It was warm to start with after the warm garage.

Yes the field has become a reference of fall and how winter with darkness is coming up on us.
Same place a week or 2 later will change. I need to ride earlier.

That is so true Per, this time of year here in NH the light changes so fast, we've lost almost 3 hrs of daylight in 2 months.
Sunday, I rode over to my mom's 100th birthday celebration, I rode back(west bound) at a little past 5pm and had to put my hand up a lot of time in front of my eyes as the sun was getting low and right in my face. I'm going to have to order some more 1 1/2" black electrical tape to put on my face shield for my Arai to give me some shade for the early sunset rides.
So Sunday was #22, 124 miles, 70°F to start off at 10:30am(warm for this late in September as it got up to 84°F for the high), after the party the temps started cooling faster as the sun got lower near sunset as I arrived home about 20 minutes before it set, it dropped to 76°F at 6:15pm. I noticed that it was fairly dark by 7pm now... (The middle of June it isn't dark until 9:30 pm....)
I might get 1 more ride over to see my mom next weekend before my cross country trip(to Vegas and Florida and back to NH on the goldwing) to see the grands before winter sets in here. I'm thinking about doing the unthinkable,  to get out there, mile burning on the slabs(yuck), at least to get to Colorado to hopefully catch a few good days to ride the mountain roads. I still have another week of work to do on these stairs I'm building unfortunately before I can get on the road.

My mom's youngest brother(90) made it to the party(the last of her siblings left) and most of my siblings and some of my cousins made it. We used to have over 125 in both sides of the family(mom's and dad's) at gatherings.

Interesting day today. Started out on the gold 750 riding down to Kitchener honda for some orings to put an engine together. 55 km later started to feel like the rear wheel was turning to sponge. Pulled over to find it had went flat. Found a nail. Called CAA flatbed and got hauled home. since the return 55 km in the right seat of a tow truck wouldnt count as part of the ride, I got home, changed the tire and left for a 185 km ride on the wing. Pit stop for a burger or two. #91
