Different Helmets Option.
« on: January 08, 2025, 09:48:33 AM »
I recently needed to purchase a newer “Race Helmet”. SNELL 2020 label required. I picked up this nice ILM (white, second one I’ve owned) for a very reasonable price, on Amazon.ca of all places! In stock, my size, light weight composite material, it arrived almost next day. All set up for my Hans Device hardware too. Fits perfectly and the removable Nomex inner liner pads made the intercom installation very easy.

A few days later ILM sent me a Thank-you Card that included a huge discount on my next purchase. Checked around and bought a new “Bike Helmet” for less than $100 (yellow). Fits perfectly, flips open, lots of vents, internal sun shade, and clip style strap. Even has nice pockets for the communicators my son and I use.

We have 2’ of snow here, so it will be a while until I really test it, but what a deal. 1/3 of what a replacement for my HJC FLIP would have cost locally…….. Check them out!

Few more of the yellow bike helmet. Anyone else tried them out?

Flip-up helmet is very nice. Glasses can stay on face when taking helmet on-off.
Or open up and get air hot days when refueling....

Wow! Do they come with batteries, replaceable CPU and ear protectors? ;)
Nice buckets!

Funny you should ask! The yellow helmet can come with an optional light fitted under the rear “spoiler”. They didn’t have them in my size, and I never ride at night…..

Per….. I’ve been using the HJC flip helmets for a long time. They are so convenient. My only criticism is they have been quite noisy (wind). The ILM seems very tight in the seams and even has a little net to keep bugs out from under the chin area. Time will tell.

Just ordered a large one. Hopefully it sizes the same as a Hjc.

I did the same. It’s a bit snugger than my old HJC, but I’m sure it will loosen up in use.

I ended up returning it. The fit was right on, same as my HJC’s, but the lift mechanism was horrible to get the pins released. I couldn’t see them getting any better with use. Maybe I just received a bad one.

Weird. I’ll have to check mine, but it seemed fine!
