Good Paint stripper...
« on: January 17, 2025, 01:22:19 PM »
I finally found a very good paint stripper.  It is Kleanstrip Ultra aircraft paint stripper.  This stuff does work quickly like the old style aircraft paint stripper that had the Methelene Chloride.  I don't think this has the Methelene Chloride but what ever is in it works well.  I would say it is strictly to be used outdoors with heavy gloves.  It is very volitle!!!  Kleanstrip has two types of aircraft paint stripper.  One is whimpy and not worth buying but the Ultra is good.  Amazon sells it as well as Eastwood.  It isn't cheap.  ~$49 a quart and $99 for a gallon.

Thought I woulld share the info.  ;)

Good to know, I think the last time I used some it didn't have "Ultra" in the title.

What did you use it on?

I used it on a '76 750 brake caliper and an air filter housing for a '76 GL1000.  Brake caliper took a little while but the temperature outside was in the low 40's.  The air filter housing was almost instant paint removal with upper 40's temp.  Even using it outside I had to be careful about the vapors.

Thanks for the tip!
The last one I used was utterly worthless. I'll try to find some of this before Colorado outlaws it...

This is not what I used.  The pic you posted if for the worthless type of Kleanstrip.  The one I used is the Kleanstrip Ultra.  See attached photo of the product.

Thank you
I found a quart  on Ebay for $37.00.
The other stuff has worked fine for me on hubs and sidecases. Likely this will work better.

That's a good price!  Just be careful with the vapors as they are REAL potent.  Even outside I would get a wiff and gag.  It smells like it has an ammonia component in the mix.
