What about Hodakas?  I'm really kinda wanting one.  Any advice?

Hey GG, What size Hodaka are you thinking? I've got a Road Toad that I'm hoping one day, after  I get a few Hondas done, to possibly go through. Needs a piston for sure (and the piston is out of it now). Front brake lever is broken. Needs a total paint job  and cleaning up. May need some chrome redone or replaced. I'm not sure about the rest. I don't presently have a title on it. Here's what one looks like.

Not  sure which model, but something I can go out and have fun with, that has enough power to keep things interesting.

I'm drawn to them because they are vintage, quirky, weird, yet apparently very light, easy to ride and not as "hardcore" as modern machines.

Plus the names are totally hilarious:

Road Toad
Super Rat
Wombat
Combat Wombat
Dirt Squirt
Thunder Dog

Once I saw they had bikes called the "Thunder Dog" and the "Combat Wombat", I KNEW I had to have a bike built by this company.  :D :D :D

I remember the Hodakas having chrome gas tanks and red frames.

I have a 73 Kawasaki G4 100 that I just got running (it was my moms)... too bad the clutch is frozen after 20 years of sitting.

Don’t buy anything less than 200cc with an expansion chamber. 100 just don’t hack it.

I had a 1972 Hodaka Wombat like the one below.  I never got it running quite right.  It needed a new piston.
