Who to rebuild or buildup a 750 motor? Chicagoland area!!!
« on: March 25, 2007, 12:24:58 PM »
I have a 74 CB750 motor that I feel has met its end.  I am looking for either a complete rebuild or core exchange program.  I am willing to ship the motor and trans if neccesary.  I would prefer to do an exchange.  I would like the trans rebuilt or exchanged at the same time if possible also.  I am not sure if or who would do this sort of thing and I am sure that the people of this board have plenty of suggestions.  I am looking for anything from a stock rebuild to something that has a bit more power.  I am trying to keep the expense low but I know that I get what I pay for.  I would be willing to upgrade to a more stout motor if I can still use my factory carbs with some re-jetting.   I am in the Chicagoland area.  Any and all help would be appreciated.  Thanks!  Christopher

Top end of the engine is easy if you take your time, I just got done with my 750's.  The bottom end is pretty rock solid unless you really ruin something.  What kind of lower end problems are you having?

Not exactly sure what his main issue is.
All I know is that the electric starter can BARELY turn the thing over, and it feels like a 15:1 V-Twin when you try and kick it over. So me and Cursed are guessing it spun a bearing or something. All pistons are still moving (we can see thru the spark plug holes), but for whatever reason the thing is def. not free (not totally locked up either)...
