Hi there,

The turn signals on my 1976 CB550F have never worked. I installed  a new turn signal relay and now the rear turn signals work but not the front ones. The lights on the front right and left  stay on but don't blink. Anyone have any suggestions. I've done a good amount of searching the previous posts but  haven't found anyone with the same problem or an answer.

thanks,
wws

Do you have the correct bulbs installed?

Is the bike stock?  Anything been modified?  Are the LB and O wires connected up properly?

All of the above. I had a similar blinking problem and turned out to the wiring in the headlight shell wasnt quite correct -Light blue - light blue and orange to orange. If in doubt follow the wiring diagram in the manual which helps. Also check the connections at the rear fender to make sure the are correct and check bulbs for blow filaments. And finally check that your flasher (under left side cover) is working -2 wires attach to it - gray and blue (I think on the CB750) or go by a new electronic one from the auto store (Autozone has them for $6-$8 - I got one last week! -12v, 2 prong one).
good luck,
Andy

Thanks for all the advice. The bike is not stock. I've only had it a few months so I'm not sure what is and what isn't stock. I don't think the front turn signals are stock. The bulbs do appear to be correct. Are they supposed to be dual filament or single? The socket for the bulb has one contact point so I was assuming single. Is that correct? However, the bulbs in the back are dual filament but the socket contact point has TWO points. I'll check on the wiring you guys mentioned tonight. As I mentioned before, I replaced the 12v flasher which is how I got the back signals to blink. Thanks!!!

The FRONT bulbs are intended to be two filament bulbs requirng three electrical connections.
The bike harnes wires are:
LIGHT BLUE, LIGHT BLUE/WHITE, GREEN
ORANGE, ORANGE/WHITE, GREEN

The REAR bulbs are intended to be single filament bulbs requiring two electrical connections.
The bike harnes wires are:
LIGHT BLUE, GREEN
ORANGE,  GREEN

If you're turn sigs aren't stock, they may not follow Honda's wiring color code convention.

Mr. TwoTired and everyone else,

Thanks so much for the help. Turned out my bike had the front signals on the back and the back on the on the front. I switched them to the way they are supposed to be.  What do you know, they're working!!!!  On the downer side, it seems like most of the wiring is pretty messed up. I seem to have some wires that aren't connected to anything. A  black one that is in the same slip as either a LIGHT BLUE/BROWN or a LIGHT BLUE/ORANGE... Can't really tell. Also, there is a WHITE wire that is capped off which I thought that was suppsed to go to the headlight. Currently, the BROWN wire goes to the WHITE headlight wire. I thought the BROWN wire was suppsed to be capped off.  Strangely enough, the headlight is working.

Anyways, Thanks again.
