Will carb cleaner hurt the floats?
« on: June 17, 2005, 06:42:19 AM »
I'm cleaning up a set of replacement carbs I just acquired. The floats are pretty dirty. Will these things melt if I put them in carb cleaner? I really don't want to destroy them, just clean them.....

From Central Texas, where it's already almost too hot to ride. I miss winter......

Depends on the floats and type of carb cleaner. If they are the plastic floats, I wouldn't put them in anything like ChemDip or other nasty stuff. If you are using Yamaha, it won't hurt them. If they are the earlier brass floats, good to go in anything.
