Need a painter
« on: March 26, 2007, 04:43:15 PM »
My latest build 1971 Honda SL 175 went sour fast. I have the frame and engine all set  and ready to run. I have been picking up NOS painted parts all in red. My thinking was I would be stock and new and save the hassle of painting. Last week I carefully start mounting parts. After getting almost done I stood back to have a look. Man the parts are all way off color. I don't have anything that is within a couple shades of red. I am thinking of using the NOS tank and side covers along with some old fenders. Don has the correct paint for $128.00. Now I need a painter. Anyone know of a place that could spray it for me. I am in Southern NH on the Mass border so this area would be good for me.

Just one more cost over run on the build. Looks like this bike is a keeper.

I find that if you come up with ballpark costs, triple it and you have an estimate.

If we only knew when to stop.

Some of the bikes I pick up for short money are the best. It's when you get attached the money flies.

I just scored a 78 Yamaha 650 for free. So far I have $38.00 into it and 2 weekends of my time. The bike is running great. A smart guy would unload it now. the thing is starting to grow on me so it may see a few more dollars.

Friend of mine. Does AMAZING work. Loves painting old stuff, so he'll probably do it cheap.

Just let him know which of the reds you'd like the rest matched to. I've seen him fix dents in the middle of candy flame jobs, and you'd never know it was there.
